character information
● name: Bakugou Katsuki
● canon: Boku no Hero Academia/My Hero Academia
● canon point: chapter 167
● age: 16
● (canon) background: wiki link
● (original) world: --
● abilities:
Starting with his Quirk, Bakugou can generate explosions in his hands due to his sweat being nitroglycerin - and the ability to set them off at will. More sweat means bigger explosions, but it also comes with the drawback that it is a very physical ability. His muscles will get tired if he overdoes it due to the recoil of each impact. His explosions are powerful, capable of breaking concrete and with certain techniques, he can propel himself through the air and decimate from there. Since his Quirk relies on his ability to sweat, he also doesn't do well in cold/dryer climates as a result - it's hard to make a spark.
Techniques that he has invented are:
- Blast Rush Turbo, which he uses to propel himself off the ground and essentially fly.
- Stun Grenade, where he makes a very bright explosion that definitely does the name on the tin and blinds people along the way.
- Howitzer Impact, where he makes himself into a tornado and shoots himself at the foe with the strength and speed of a "missle", as it is compared to. Huge impact damage.
- AP Shot: Special Beam Cannon. Very powerful, can shoot through concrete, can definitely hurt his hands and arms so he can't use it often without special equipment.
Other abilities he has that aren't related to his Quirk are that he is that guy who is good at everything. He's sharp and smart, he has very good fighting instincts, he is very strong even without the use of his Quirk. Bakugou's biggest strengths shine in battle by far. Other skills he excels at that canon has covered are that Bakugou is a capable cook, especially with chopping vegetables, as well as being talented at the drums. He likely has a great sense of direction with his love for mountain hiking as well.
● strengths: Bakugou is all the things a lot of people wish they were; confident, strong, smart with excellent grades, and a sure path in life. Straight up smart and cunning, sharp as a tack. That talent for picking up anything he does and being good at it is also a cool trait, and then his Quirk being powerful from the start led to a lot of adults telling him how cool he was. He did get a very inflated ego as a result, but he does have the skills and smarts to live up to being strong.
He is the type of person that is easy to admire for his tenaciousness and drive, in the sense that knowing him and how he is means that he will get things done that he says he will do. It makes him reliable, even if he's a bit destructive along the way. With his own admiration being in the way Victory Against All Odds looks, that being what he strives for is rather awe-inspiring.
● weaknesses: For all the good skills he has, his bad personality outweighs them by a lot. He has a short temper, he doesn't listen to other people well, he behaves generally like a delinquent - except he despises those too. His desire to win doesn't look all that heroic when he is really into the fight, and a lot of people have remarked on his straight up villainous behavior.
Bakugou also has zero cooperation skills to speak of, though more current times have shown his growth into maybe gaining a level one or two, but he still picks fights with people before he will work with them. He didn't bother with learning his classmates Quirks at first, and barely their names, opting for calling them what they look like or "hey you". While he has made a lot of improvements, Bakugou still has a long way to go before he will easily agree about teamwork endeavors, wanting to prove he can be the best without help at all. It made it very difficult to see his own weaknesses, something he has owned up to only in recent chapters.

[There's an momentary silence that comes across the feed, like he's being sure it's working before he speaks up. It wouldn't do any good for half the message to come across.]
Hey. I'm looking for someone to fight with. No amateurs looking to get training, I want someone who can throw a punch and take a fall. [After a beat, like Bakugou has to reiterate and wants his point taken home -] I don't have time to waste teaching someone how to fight back, and I'm going to know it in two blows if you lie.
[Tch. The aftermath thought is that he could just say he wants a sparring partner and that he's already used too many words to say as much, so Bakugou doesn't try to fix what he has already said.] Leave a message and I'll make time for you, if you sound strong enough.
● prose/action sample:
[It isn't often that Bakugou could give a straight up compliment, but it also wasn't so often that Kirishima parries him so cleanly that it leaves him with the wind knocked out of his lungs and flat on his back. Gritting his teeth, the immediate sensation of frustration in failing for even that moment kicking in, he doesn't lash out when Kirishima hesitates and tries to offer him a hand. Wheezing out the breath of air he does take in through his nose, grimacing instead when taking that hand involves bending to sit up almost too soon, he grunts before his mouth turns into a smile.
He might not say anything, so it's like he didn't actually give that compliment on the tip of his tongue - but Kirishima starts to grin too, so he knows the idea carried through well enough. Letting himself be pulled to his feet the rest of the way, shaking his hands out and breathing easier as that frustration passes and his mind already sets to work about how to counter what happened, he takes a couple paces away to put some distance between them once again.]
We're doing that again, don't stand there all slack-jawed now.
[Turning to face Kirishima again with a wider grin on his face, Bakugou crackles some smaller explosions in his hands, a wordless indicator that he's easing up on their earlier rule about not using Quirks. It isn't that he couldn't beat him without it, but Kirishima just upgraded his training practice into a brawl with getting that move in on him. The guy needs to learn how to counter with more than taking hits, so it's a bit of practice for them both, right?]
